Special effect (history)

Special effect have been used since the early days of film. In 1895 the film Demolition d'un Mur (Demolition of a Wall) was shown for the first time in  Paris. In the 1950s, sci-fi and harror films became immensely popular, especially films where human civilsation is threaened by titanic monsters destroying cities, or bizzare beings from outer space.The special effect creator Ray Harryhausen created effects for a anumber of film in 1960s and early 1970s animating figures from Greek mythology, dragons, skeletons and cyclops.
